History. Seoul Foreign School was founded in 1912, by Christian missionaries to Korea (Ethel Van Wagoner Underwood), with one class of 18 students. [2] . The school started in 1912 with 7 teachers and currently has over 1,500 students from more than 50 countries, offering education from PK to high school.

About. Colm Flanagan, Head of School. Seoul Foreign School (SFS) serves the international community of our city. We have been "inspiring excellence and building character" for more than 100 years. Starting in 1912 as one classroom of 12 students, we have grown into the vibrant and dynamic learning environment we are today.
Published 2021.11.12. 14:10. Seoul Foreign School began as a tiny missionary school in the capital teaching just 18 students in 1912, but now it has a student body of 1,500 from 50 countries. SFS is the oldest international school in the country and marks its 110th anniversary this year.
A Tradition of Excellence Since 1973. When Seoul International School opened its doors in 1973, it became the first foreign school, after Korean Liberation in 1945, to be fully recognized by the ROK Ministry of Education with a license issued to SIS on June 5, 1973.
Seoul Foreign School is the longest established international school in Korea and one of the first 10 international schools in the world. Founded in 1912, it offers a community of teaching and learning excellence, coming together to educate children at all ages and stages.
