I always thought it was a body snatchers situation where upon discovering humanity it kills and then imitates whoever it first comes in contact with in order to buy time and multiply. For instance, if it had met a dog first, it would be a quadruped.
Hiroshi Sakaguchi and his family move into a new house. He is curious about the house next door, which has only one window. They discover that the inhabitant, a middle-aged woman, is never seen, but neighbors have spotted a figure at the window during the night.
