Fantastical creatures, daring exploits, the intervention of the gods, and dramatic confrontations contribute action and melodrama, and the cinematic format makes possible the impossible. Ulysses, a simplification of Homer’s Odyssey, takes advantage of these cinematic abilities, to a degree.
