The University of Szeged ( Hungarian: Szegedi Tudományegyetem) is a public research university in Szeged, Hungary. Established as the Jesuit Academy of Kolozsvár in present-day Cluj-Napoca in 1581, the institution was re-established as a university in 1872 by Emperor Franz Joseph I.

The University of Szeged (SZTE) is one of the most popular universities of Hungary, occupying high places in all the international rankings. The number of its academic research and teaching staff reaches 2300 teaching and training up to 25 000 students.
We would like to warmly welcome our newly admitted students to the University of Szeged. Every year we hold an orientation week where we get to meet our students and assist them with the academic registration. However, this year due to the COVID-19, we had to switch our methods of communication.
The University of Szeged is one of the largest universities in Hungary, and the efforts of its 25,000 students and close to 10,000 employees at the 12 university faculties help make the institution the regional centre of knowledge in Hungary and Central Europe.
