"Rocket Man" is a song composed by Elton John and Bernie Taupin, and originally performed by John. In 1978, William Shatner performed a spoken-word version of the song at the 1978 Science Fiction Film Awards. The difference between the two songs comes with the pause between each individual line.

Stewie Griffin sings Shatner's version in "And the Wiener is...". He gradually puts more enthusiasm into the performance as the song progresses.

Seth MacFarlane "sings" it as Stewie again in Family Guy Presents: Seth & Alex's Almost Live Comedy Show.

Shatner's version is on a compilation videotape Brian Griffin plays frequently, as revealed in "The Man with Two Brians".
