Batman & Robin is a 1997 American superhero film based on the DC Comics characters Batman and Robin by Bill Finger and Bob Kane. It is the fourth and final installment of Warner Bros.'s initial Batman film series, a sequel to Batman Forever and the only film in the series made without the involvement of Tim Burton in any capacity.
Batman and Robin face two villains, Mr. Freeze and Poison Ivy, who threaten to freeze Gotham City and take over with mutant plants. They also deal with a new partner, Batgirl, and a sick butler, Alfred.
Jun 20, 1997 · Ebert criticizes the film for its lack of character development, its campy tone, and its over-reliance on special effects. He praises some of the images, such as the Gotham Observatory and Mr. Freeze's music-box figure, but finds the film disappointing overall.
