Robert E. Hutchins (March 29, 1925 – May 17, 1945) was an American child actor who was a regular in the Our Gang short subjects series from 1927 to 1933. A native of Tacoma, Washington, he was given the nickname of Wheezer after running around the studios on his first day so much that he began to wheeze.
Robert Eugene “Wheezer” Hutchins. Actor. A popular member of The Little Rascals, he played Wheezer in 58 Our Gang comedy shorts over six years, beginning in 1927. Typically clad in a beanie and ragged corduroy vest, Wheezer was an impish, scene-stealing sprite, often too cunning for his own good.
Bobby 'Wheezer' Hutchins was a child actor who starred in the Our Gang shorts from 1927 to 1933. He died in a plane crash in 1945 while training to become a pilot.

Mar 10, 2024 · Tragically, Hutchins was killed as a result of a mid-air collision on May 17, 1945. He was trying to land a plane during the last 30 minutes of his basic training when it struck another plane of the same unit at Merced Army Air Field in Merced, California, later to become Castle Air Force Base.
