The Central Coast is a peri-urban region lying on the Pacific Ocean in northern-eastern New South Wales, Australia. The region is situated north of Sydney, which is filled with subtropical national parks, forests and also encompasses the major coastal waterways of Brisbane Water, Tuggerah Lakes and southern Lake Macquarie.
- Central Coast Beaches. The beaches are one of the most sought-after attractions on the Central Coast. No wonder. Half the 87-kilometre coastline comprises beaches.
- Bushwalking. The region boasts several national parks with a stunning coastline, which offer excellent walks and lookout points. Some of these hikes even take you to isolated beaches, waterfalls and Aboriginal engraving sites.
- Australian Reptile Park. Have you ever seen a massive saltwater crocodile up close? Have you ever fed a kangaroo? This is your chance. Visit the Australian Reptile Park if you want to see deadly species of snakes and spiders and entertaining shows.
- Horse Riding in Glenworth Valley. Experience a memorable guided horse riding tour in the picturesque Glenworth Valley. You'll ride along the trails through the natural bush setting.

- Soak up the sun at the Central Coast’s beaches. With an 87-kilometre coastline and 40-plus beaches, the Central Coast is a beach lovers’ nirvana. It almost goes without saying, part of the holiday experience is finding a patch of sand and enjoying the ocean lifestyle, whether that be splashing about with the kids at Toowoon Bay, taking a dip at The Entrance Ocean Baths or hopping about the rock pools at MacMasters Beach or Pearl Beach.
- Hike the Central Coast’s best walking tracks. More than half of the Central Coast is made up of natural areas, with many walking and hiking tracks that weave throughout.
- Take the time to explore the towns and villages. The Central Coast’s map is made up of an eclectic mix of towns and villages. Enjoy a languid pace at seaside villages such as Ettalong Beach and Copacabana, combine beach life with sophisticated shopping and dining at the bustling town of Terrigal, or explore urban hubs such as Long Jetty where creatives have settled in droves.
- Stop and smell the roses at these community gardens. Stroll through Mt Penang Parklands, where 70 per cent of plants are native to Australia, or feel zen at Edogawa Commemorative Garden, which is based on a traditional Japanese ‘shuyu’ (strolling style) garden.
The Central Coast is an hour north of Sydney, making it perfect for day trips from Sydney ( although we suggest staying longer!). We have everything from some of the best coastal walks in NSW to Australian wildlife encounters.
