Diamond Rio is an American country music band. The band was founded in 1982 as an attraction for the Opryland USA theme park in Nashville, Tennessee, and was originally known as the Grizzly River Boys, then the Tennessee River Boys.
Apr 12, 2024 · Having started out as The Tennessee River Boys in the 80s, they eventually morphed into Diamond Rio in 1989, and the group consisted of vocalist Marty Roe; guitar and banjo player Jimmy Olander; bassist/vocalist Dana Williams; pianist Dan Truman; drummer Brian Prout; and mandolin player and vocalist Gene Johnson.
The formation that became known as the six-time Vocal Group of the Year, Diamond Rio, was formed in 1989 and consisted of Marty Roe (lead vocals), Jimmy Olander (guitar/banjo), Dana Williams (bass/vocals), Dan Truman (piano), Brian Prout (drums), and Gene Johnson (mandolin/vocals), and up until recently have had no member changes.
Jul 7, 2023 · Diamond Rio, the four-time CMA and two-time ACM Vocal Group of the Year, has two new band members: Dana Williams on bass/vocals and Micah Schweinsberg on drums. The band released a new song and video, “The Kick,” featuring their instrumental skills and vocal harmonies.
