Their testimonies helped convict the three doctors: Dr. Karl Gebhardt, Dr. Herta Oberheuser, and Dr. Fritz Fischer of “crimes against humanity” and war crimes. Gebhardt was sentenced to death and was hanged on June 2, 1948. Fischer was sentenced to life in prison, but this was reduced to 15 years.
