HD South, home of the Gilbert Historical Museum, is located at the southern end of the iconic Heritage District in Gilbert. It opened in 1982 and is housed in the original Gilbert Elementary school, which is the oldest building still standing in Gilbert and the only building in Gilbert on the National Register of Historic Places.
Aug 1, 2023 · The Gilbert Historical Museum is located in the Downtown Gilbert area and is housed within the old Gilbert Elementary School building which was built in 1913 and operated as a school until 1977. The building was converted to a museum in 1985 and was run by volunteers until about 15 years ago.

Nov 27, 2023 · Gilbert Historical Museum is located further South on Gilbert Rd, it has several exhibits outside, in the foyer (check out that car!), and of course many artifacts from those times when Gilbert used to be the "Hay Shipping Capital of the World" (that was actually 'only' a hundred years ago).
