Harold "Hal" Cooper (February 23, 1923 – April 11, 2014) was an American television director and executive producer who worked primarily on sitcoms. After establishing himself as a pioneer of the Golden Age of Television, [1] Cooper became a regular director on many of the popular and enduring shows of the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s.
Hal Cooper, Jr. is the co-owner and founder of Cooper Music based in Russellville, Arkansas. His music Company provides repair services, band instruments, music supplies and anything else a director could need. He travels weekly to schools and universities around the state.
Hal Cooper became the new band director in the fall of 1979. Under his leadership the band continued its growth. A six-member rifle team was added to the Marching Band in 1979, a Wind Ensemble was formed in 1984, and in the spring of 1990 the expanded growth led to the formation of two performance bands.
Hal grew up in El Dorado and Russellville, Arkansas with band coursing through his veins. Hal’s father was a decorated university band director and instilled in him a love of music. Hal played in the school band and a rock band for many years and later graduated with an Associates Degree in Music Science from Minnesota State University.
Hal, Tracy and the entire Cooper team go out of their way to provide Arkansas band directors and students with quality, affordable instruments and back them with a superb repair staff. They have an outstanding reputation across Arkansas—mainly because they approach school band programs with a servant-like attitude.
