Jesse Powell was an R&B singer, best known for his 1999 song “You.” “You” reached No. 10 on the U.S. Billboardcharts, as well as No. 2 on the R&B charts. Throughout his career, Jesse released four albums, with the most recent being in 2003. Some of his other songs include “I Wasn’t With It,” “If I”, “All I Need” and “Gloria.”

Jesse and his siblings performed at local talent shows in the early 90s and he was eventually discovered by a producer named Carl Roland. It was three years later that Jesse released his debut album in 1996.

Jesse is the older brother of fellow R&B singers Trina Powell and Tamara Powell. The women formed the group Trina & Tamara. They released their debut and only album in 1999 and are best known for their song “What’d You Come Here For?”, which reached No. 56 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts. Jesse Powell was just 51 years old when he died on Sept. 13, 2022. He was born on Sept. 12, 1971, dying just one day after celebrating his 51st birthday.
