Maze is a 2000 romance film about a New York painter and sculptor—Lyle Maze —with Tourette syndrome (TS) and obsessive–compulsive disorder (OCD), who falls in love with Callie (Laura Linney), the pregnant girlfriend of Maze's best friend Mike (Craig Sheffer) while Mike is away on a long stay in Africa as a doctor.
Lyle David Mays (November 27, 1953 – February 10, 2020) was an American jazz pianist, composer, and member of the Pat Metheny Group. Metheny and Mays composed and arranged nearly all of the group's music, for which Mays won eleven Grammy Awards.
Lyle Maze is a sensitive and charming sculptor who has Tourette Syndrome. Isolated by his own fear, and other people's misconceptions, he is convinced he'll never find true love. In fact, Lyle feels comfortable only when he's with his best friend Mike or Mike's girlfriend Callie.
