Oct 22, 2023 · In the classic British sitcom Steptoe and Son, the horse's name was Hercules. Played by a real-life horse named Bryn, Hercules was a constant source of frustration for the rag-and-bone men as they struggled to keep him fed and healthy while also making a living off his labor.
The series had no standard set of opening titles but the opening sequences would often feature the Steptoes' horse, Hercules. "Steptoe and Son" is the Steptoes' trading name, but as established in the first episode, the "Son" is not Harold as initially believed, but Albert.
The series revolved around father-and-son duo Albert and Harold Steptoe, the titular father and son, who live together in their rag-and-bone yard with their horse Hercules.
