- Black Sabbath. Paranoid, Black Sabbath, Heaven and Hell. 853 votes. Its no surprise that Black Sabbath tops this list, as they are often considered the godfathers of stoner rock.
- Kyuss. Blues for the Red Sun, …And the Circus Leaves Town, Welcome to Sky Valley. 840 votes. Hailing from the sun-baked California desert, Kyuss emerged in the early '90s as pioneers of the stoner rock movement.

May 5, 2024 · The music on this album is progressive rock, heavily laden with bluesy sensibilities and stoner intimations, conjuring psychedelic discernments. The opening track, “The Medicine Man,” is a perfect example.
