Character states. Since being exposed to the transforming serum, your state of mind will start affecting your body. To track these changes, there are 3 stats that your character has. Being in different states will drive your personal interactions differently, leading to different scene outcomes and sometimes even entirely different storylines.
Penny is your only subordinate in the company. She assists you in the laboratory, greatly contributing to your progress and will accompany you through the entire storyline, being pretty much the central character of it (aside of MC, naturally).

The teleplay adaptation was written by Ken Nolan, who received a Writers Guild of America Award for Television: Long Form – Adapted.
