Reeder joined the WAMU lineup in 2001, becoming one of the hosts of Bluegrass Overnight and, later, the host of his own program.
We have learned that Tom “Cat” Reeder, veteran broadcaster and member of the Country Music Broadcasters Hall of Fame, died earlier today. Reeder was one of the most celebrated radio personalities in the US, based in the Maryland, Washington, DC area starting in the mid-1950s.

Tom “Cat” Reeder, inducted into the Country Radio Broadcasters Hall of Fame in 1990, worked for no pay on his first job in 1956 as an air talent/gofer at WARL in Arlington, VA.
Tom owned WYAL Scotland Neck, NC and WARI Abbeville, AL and later became station manager at WKCW in Warrington, Virginia. Tom Reeder was inducted into the Country Music DJ Hall of Fame in 1990. He recently hosted one of the bluegrass overnight shows on WAMU, Washington DC.
