Google Mail is a Web-based email tool. It is accessible from anywhere in the world where you have a computer and an Internet connection. Google Mail is part of Google Workspace (G Suite, Apps at UMass Amherst).
Access Amherst Email Online. Go to gmail.com. Click Sign in. Enter your Amherst email address. If asked if this is a business, enterprise, or institutional account, agree. Enter your Amherst username and password. Complete Duo authentication if prompted. If asked if you want to continue, agree and continue.
Use the new web address for accessing Exchange email and calendaring in the web browser: outlook.office365.com. After being migrated to Office 365 Exchange email, the old exchange.umass.edu web address will give you a link to the new web app.
Undergraduates' Google Mail accounts have their UMass Amherst email address and are their official email account for the time they are at the University. UMass Amherst IT no longer provides UMail accounts for incoming undergraduates. New students only use Google Mail for their UMass Amherst email.
