Karl Friedrich Rapp (Ehingen 24 septembre 1882 - Locarno 26 mai 1962) est un ingénieur en mécanique allemand, pionnier de l'aéronautique, fondateur de l'industrie aéronautique « Rapp Motorenwerke GmbH » à Munich, qui deviendra BMW après fusion en 1916 avec « Gustav Otto Flugmaschinenfabrikum » de Gustav Otto.
La Bayerische Flugzeugwerke est fondée dans les années 1910. En 1916 la société fusionne avec la Rapp Motorenwerke, et prendra la nom de Bayerische Motoren Werke ( BMW) l'année suivante. La Bayerische Flugzeugwerke ( BFW) fondée en 1926 pour reprendre l'activité des Constructions aéronautiques Udet.
