Fun in Acapulco was Elvis Presley’s thirteenth movie and his sixth for producer Hal Wallis at Paramount. The film was the third in a five-picture deal Wallis had negotiated with Colonel Parker in January 1961.
Mike Windgren arrives in Acapulco as a sailor on a yacht. When he loses his position, Raoul, a shoeshine boy who has heard him sing, becomes his manager and gets him a job as both a fill-in singer for the temperamental featured performer at the Hilton Hotel and as siesta-time fill-in for Moreno, lifeguard at the hotel pool.
