In the film, Tye Sheridan and Jacob Lofland portray a pair of teenagers who encounter the eponymous Mud ( Matthew McConaughey ), a fugitive hiding on a small island, and agree to help him evade his pursuers. Sam Shepard and Reese Witherspoon also star.
