Season 3 of Letterkenny premiered on Canadian video-on-demand service CraveTV (now Crave) on Canada Day, July 1, 2017.
Jared Keeso and Jacob Tierney wrote all episodes except "Les Hiques," which is credited to Jonathan Torrens. Jacob Tierney directed all episodes.
Before Season 2 had even premiered, Crave TV ordered a third season of Letterkenny, announced a Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation event in Sudbury on August 6, 2016 (Playback). At the event, Ontario Premiere Kathleen Wynn announced the provincial government would provide $2.3 million to support five productions shooting in Sudbury: Letterkenny as well as Game Changes, A Perfect Christmas, Love's Complicated, and Amélie et compagnie.
BellMedia announced the start of filming for season 3 on February 23, 2017 (Bell Media); in contrast to the first two seasons, Season 3 is set in the wintertime.
Alexander De Jordy, who played "sideskid" Devon in seasons 1 and 2, did not return for season 3. His disappearance was noted in-universe, but never explained.
