Yippy was a metasearch engine that grouped searched results into clusters. [1] [2] It was originally developed and released by Vivísimo in 2004 under the name Clusty , before Vivisimo was later acquired by IBM and Yippy was sold in 2010 to a company now called Yippy, Inc.
yippy.com was a great alternative to the mainstream search engines, it reminded me of an improved altavista from back in the day. But yippy.com now redirects to DDG, and I can't find any word as to why. The "Try YIPPY Search" link on yippyinc.com also gets redirected. I'm hoping this is a temporary situation due to increased demand.
