May 1, 2002 · Jury Duty is the twentieth episode of the third season of Malcolm in the Middle, which was broadcast on May 1, 2002. With Lois on jury duty, Hal decides to solve the murder case he thinks she is working on.
The episode seems to take a lot of inspiration from the film; with a good amount of differences. Lois is supposed to represent juror #8 from the film, and how he and she wanted a fairly trial, even if it took forever.
During jury duty, Lois sees the evidence of the case and decides to vote guilty, along with seven other jurors. Five others disagree at first, voting not guilty. After a while, people just want to go home and the five agree to just change their vote without really believing it.

Malcolm, Reese and Dewey "volunteer" to do charity work at the local church. They soon begin bartering the many items in the church basement in exchange for money, but when the boys start making more of a profit than the church, their consciences finally catch up to them.
