The T. Elmer Cox Genealogical & Historical Library, a branch of Greeneville/Greene County Public Library, opened November 14, 2000. The Cox Library houses materials collected by T. Elmer Cox over his lifetime, as well as materials previously located in the Tennessee Room of the Main Library.
Through the T. Elmer Cox Genealogical and Historical Library just across the street at 229 North Main Street, we offer extensive archives of local interest and help research family histories.
Apr 30, 2022 · Located on Main Street in Greeneville, the library houses a wealth of genealogical resources as well as archived records for the Greene County Courthouse. T. Elmer Cox was himself a student of Greene County history and bequeathed the monies to establish the library.
