The Atlas front man has spoken in the past about his interest in representing Mexico having failed to receive a call-up from his home nation. On 3 September 2023, Mexico national team manager Jaime Lozano invited Quiñones to a training session. The player had previously shown interest in representing Mexico. On 11 October, Quiñones completed his naturalization process and became a Mexican citizen. On 9 November, he received his first call-up to the Mexico national team.
