The debut novel, The Boy in the Dress, illustrated by Quentin Blake, was released worldwide on 1 November 2008. On 26 August 2008 Walliams made his stage debut at the Gate Theatre in Dublin opposite Michael Gambon in Harold Pinter's No Man's Land, in front of an audience that included Pinter himself.
