Jun 16, 2022 · FIFA on Thursday began unveiling its plans for a sprawling, three-nation men’s World Cup in 2026 by announcing the host cities for soccer’s biggest-ever championship.
The tournament will take place from June 11 to July 19, 2026. It will be jointly hosted by 16 cities in three North American countries: Canada, Mexico, and the United States. The tournament will be the first hosted by three nations and the first North American World Cup since 1994.

The next edition of the World Cup will be played in three countries, USA, Canada and Mexico with 48 participating teams. It will be held between June and July.
16 cities across three countries (USA, Canada and Mexico) will host matches in the tournament. Most of them are located in the USA.
For the first time, 48 teams will participate in the tournament divided among five continental confederations (AFC, CAF, Concacaf, CONMEBOL and OFC). Continental confederations have autonomy to define their competition model for qualifying tournaments. South American qualifiers begin March 2023.
FIFA is working with three possibilities of competition format for the tournament which should be decided during 2023 according to Arsene Wenger who heads FIFA's Football Development Department .
