The 3D imagery was designed and supervised by Chris Parks. The majority of the 3D was created by stereo rendering the CGI at Framestore. The remaining footage was converted into 3D in post-production—principally at Prime Focus, London, with additional conversion work by Framestore.

I saw it first in regular 3D. It is absolutely worth seeing. Obviously IMAX is better, but you still get the same feeling with regular 3D. As for seeing it in 2D, I think it's a bit of a disservice to the film, being that it was shot (and thus meant to be seen) in 3D. Reply.
