City Island is a neighborhood in the northeastern Bronx in New York City, located on an island of the same name approximately 1.5 miles (2.4 km) long by 0.5 miles (0.80 km) wide. City Island is located at the extreme western end of Long Island Sound, south of Pelham Bay Park, and east of Eastchester Bay.
The Bronx is the only New York City borough not primarily located on an island. The Bronx has a land area of 42 square miles (109 km 2) and a population of 1,472,654 in the 2020 census. If each borough were ranked as a city, the Bronx would rank as the ninth-most-populous in the U.S.

City Island is a wonderful enclave off the coast of the Bronx, accessible by mass transit (#6 train to pelham bay, then #29 bus) and cars, that offers an escape from the crowded city. while it is by no means the equivalent of Cape Cod or harbor towns in Long Island, it is great for a day excursion.
