Coordinates: 49°43′58″N 24°14′49″E. Zvenyhorod ( Ukrainian: Звенигород) is a village in Lviv Raion, Lviv Oblast, in the western part of Ukraine. It belongs to Davydiv rural hromada, one of the hromadas of Ukraine. [1] Zvenyhorod was the capital of the former Principality of Zvenyhorod (11th and 12th centuries). [2] [3]
Zvenigorod is located 70 kilometers west of Moscow on the banks of the Moskva River. According to the chronicle, the city was founded in 1152 by Prince Yuri Dolgoruky. The heyday of Zvenigorod came during the reign of Prince Yuri Zvenigorodsky, when the Savvino-Storozhevsky Monastery and the Cathedral of the Assumption were built here.
