     If your app only needs to support offline data saving mechanism which not required any internet connectivity then you would use:

     • Isar (It is a no-sql/non-relational local/offline database which has interactive inspector editor)
     • Object Box (It is a no-sql/non-relational local/offline database)
     • Hive (It is a no-sql/non-relational local/offline database)
     • Sqflite (It is a sql/relational local/offline database)
     • Drift (It is a sql/relational local/offline database which is build on top of sqlite)

     Otherwise you can use:

     • Firebase (It is a no-sql/non-relational online backend as a service)
     • AWS Amplify (It is a cloud based backend as a service)
     • Parse Server (It is a kind of sql/relational online backend as a service)
     • Realm (It is a no-sql/non-relational mongodb based online backend as a service)
     • AppWrite (It is a no-sql/non-relational online backend as a service)
     • Supabase (It is an online backend as a service)

     If you want to write dart based custom backend:

     • Dart Frog (It is a minimalistic backend framework)
     • Serverpod (It is a sql based backend framework)

     If you comes from Java/Native Android or React Native background:

     • Spring Boot (It is a Java based enterprise level backend framework)
     • Nest JS (It is a progressive Node JS based reliable backend framework)

     According to your provided information, I think Firebase or AWS Amplify (for online backend as a service) and Isar (for local db and for flutter web support use Sqflite or Drift instead of Isar) would be good option.

     SQLite is a very good option. It is just a single file, and fast. No configuration, transactions are atomic, supports terabyte-sized databases. There are language-bindings for Ada, C#, Lisp, Fortran, Java, Lua, PHP, Perl, Python, Ruby, Tcl, etc...

     It has good GUI admin options:

     • SQLite Admin for Windows
     • SQLite Browser for Linux, Mac, and Windows screenshots
     • Even a Firefox plugin for viewing/editing data
     • Many more

     It is used in industry:

     • It's the base database the Firefox uses internally for bookmarks and history. It can also be used by plugins for them to store internal data. link
     • The iPhone also uses it internally to store data, and can be used by apps themselves for their own data storage. Here is a series of tutorials on using it within your own apps. link
     • Adobe uses it as the file format for Lightroom. Apple uses it for Mail and Aperture. Skype uses it in their clients for Mac and Windows. Lastly, it seems to be an integral part of Symbian, Nokia's phone OS. users page

     I've enjoyed working with SQLite3-- the Python interface is very simple and the whole database is just one file!

     PostgreSQL is an excellent open source database that can be used with Java, Python, Ruby, .NET, and more.

     You can easily find lots of comparisons of PostgreSQL versus MySQL. I've used and liked both.

     Since gradle and Android studio both use UTF-8, you should consider using that. It's a good encoding too as it's based on unicode charset.

     There has also been some talk on whether they should enforce UTF-8 or not in the future, so you should start changing to UTF-8 asap :)

     You can change your encoding as follows below.

     Click File -> Settings (or click Ctrl + Alt + S) and find File Encodings in your Androd Studio. See the image below as a reference.

     Now you have three options

     • change UTF-8 to match other encoding
     • or change project encoding to match UTF-8 since both Gradle andAndroid Lint use this (recommended)
     • Ignore the warning

     You can also see the current encoding of your file at the bottom right corner of Android studio. You can also change it there. See the image below.

     After clarification with Oracle, the following artifacts should be used:

     Runtime

     If you want to unmarshal XML to Java objects or marshal Java objects as XML:

     <dependency> <groupId>org.glassfish.jaxb</groupId> <artifactId>jaxb-runtime</artifactId> <version>...</version></dependency>

     Schema compiler (XJC)

     If you have an XML Schema and want to generate the Java code out of it:

     <dependency> <groupId>org.glassfish.jaxb</groupId> <artifactId>jaxb-xjc</artifactId> <version>...</version></dependency>

     If you have Java classes with JAXB annotations and want to generate a XML Schema based on them:

     <dependency> <groupId>org.glassfish.jaxb</groupId> <artifactId>jaxb-jxc</artifactId> <version>...</version></dependency>

     The two latter artifacts (org.glassfish.jaxb:jaxb-xjc and org.glassfish.jaxb:jaxb-jxc) are wrapped by Maven plugins so you normally would not need them in the runtime.

     Eclipse usage

     If your Maven projects somehow don't get the full classpath, turn on debug output and check the Maven console. You might be seeing the following error message there:

     [ERROR] 'dependencyManagement.dependencies.dependency.systemPath' for com.sun:tools:jar must specify an absolute path but is ${tools.jar} @

     This is due to the following problem:

     Maven not picking JAVA_HOME correctly

     The solution by @rustyx is to add -vm option to the eclipse.ini:

     -vm<PATH_TO_JDK>\jre\bin\javaw.exe-

     • I'll recommend Hive db to use. It is no-sql and fast database. Does not require any additional software installation on desktop.With hive db same code will work on desktop, web and mobile apps.

     To run your flutter projet exe on Windows desktop, you don't need flutter to be installed on that desktop.
