Stephen Vincent Benét (1898-1943) was an American writer. He won the Pulitzer Prize in 1929 for John Brown’s Body, a long narrative poem. He also wrote novels and short stories, the best known being “The Devil and Daniel Webster” (1936) and “By the Waters of Babylon” (1937).
