" Crisis on Infinite Earths " is the sixth Arrowverse crossover event, featuring episodes of the television series Supergirl, Batwoman, The Flash, Arrow, and Legends of Tomorrow on The CW. The Supergirl, Batwoman, and The Flash episodes aired in December 2019 while the Arrow and Legends of Tomorrow episodes aired in January 2020.

After facing production troubles due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Arrowverse is planning a big comeback. The CW will kick off the upcoming eighth season of The Flash with five event episodes featuring heroes from across the network's slate of DC superhero series.
"The idea for The Flash is [showrunner] Eric Wallace and [executive producer Greg Berlanti] have come together, and we're talking about other superheroes from the CW-verse that will come together in each individual episodes," said Mark Pedowitz, CW network chairman and CEO. "It will not quite be a crossover, but it will have a crossover-type feel with the introduction of all these characters."
Although the network has big ambitions for the upcoming event episodes, the exact plan of which heroes will be featured in The Flash is still being worked out.
On the horizon for the Arrowverse, the upcoming adaptation of DC's new series Naomi has been given a series order. Additiaonlly, the new spinoff Superman & Lois has been renewed for a second season and Stargirl Season 2 is set to premiere on Augsut 10. Whether The Flash team-up episodes will be used to elevate the CW's newest headliners or give old heroes a farewell remains to be seen.
The CW was forced to scrap plans for its annual Arrowverse crossover event last year due to concerns about organizing a large-scale production involving people from across different projects during the COVID-19 pandemic.
