DuMond began teaching at the Art Students League of New York in 1892, and soon spent summers teaching and painting landscapes en plein air. Dec 17, 2017 · For the month of June, Frank Herbert Mason taught me to paint outdoors. During the 1930’s & 40’s in Old Lyme Connecticut, Frank Vincent DuMond taught Mason. Using the same principals of light and atmosphere, Mason passed these principles down to me. After studying in Paris during the 1890’s, DuMond developed his famous “Color Palette”.
Frank Vincent DuMond (August 20, 1865 – February 6, 1951) was one of the most influential teacher-painters in 20th-century America. He was an illustrator and American Impressionist painter of portraits and landscapes, and a prominent teacher who instructed thousands of art students throughout a career spanning over fifty years.
