    HOLY...

I'm just finally catching my breath.

Another interesting element to Daenerys this week was that not only did she ask Jon for a bit of council, but she also seemed to be getting more and more attracted to him. And vice versa. I wasn't sure if the show would lean into a romance between them so blatantly, given the eventual (presumed) reveal of Jon being her nephew, so now I'm wondering if...the Tower of Joy twist isn't going to be what we expect. It's a stretch, I know, since it's all but a given that Jon's parents are Lyanna and Rhaegar, but the fact that this episode began to build up a budding romance between the two that it will eventually have to break apart is enough to make one wonder if EPs Weiss and Benioff are taking things in a different direction.

Of course, fans ship Jon and Dany regardless of their Targaryen bond and it wouldn't be the craziest thing in the world of Westeros for the two of them to form an official Song of Ice and Fire union, but the sooner the show can actually out Jon's true parentage the better. I'd hate to see it get dragged out too long and then just only land as the simple payoff we expect.

Jon's time with Dany down in the Dragonstone cave was a really cool way to look back at the history or both the realm and the show, as the spiral carvings on the walls, the ones done by the Children of the Forest, are the same type that the White Walkers created with body parts - as seen in the pilot episode and then again after the Fist of the First Men army of the dead ambush. We know the Children created the White Walkers, so the Walkers are an extension of them somehow, but do they use the spirals in their tableaus as a means of mocking the Children or are the patterns also important to them in their own right?

Arya's Winterfell homecoming was excellent, but how does Sansa feel about her after hearing from Bran that the Young Pup's death list is real, and then watching her pretty much beat Brienne in a sparring session? She seemed pretty disturbed by it all.

Granted, their official meet up, down in the crypt, was a little icy at first. I don't know that we'll ever get the type of desperate feelings that we had when Jon and Sansa met at Castle Black last year (which is weird since the characters weren't ever close) but now Stark reunions are coming at us pretty fast. I'm glad that Bran's condition has become an actual issue, so much so that Sansa had to basically prep Arya for what she was about to experience.

Does Arya scare Sansa now? Does she resent Arya for also surviving but having come out of the ashes as, basically, one of the best fighters in the world? Both of them acknowledged that they were different women now, having traveled different paths, experiencing different hardships, but is Sansa somehow not satisfied with the way Arya's persevered? And what is Littlefinger's play here? Why did he give the dagger to Bran? At least Sansa knows him well enough to suspect some sort of ulterior motive.

Finally, Cersei and Tychos made mention of the Golden Company this week, and since nothing on Game of Thrones gets brought up without reason we may have just sniffed out Cersei's endgame. She's been doing pretty damn well for herself, as someone without three dragons, but now that her caravan got torched she needs another ace up her sleeve. The Golden Company have been mentioned here and there over the years on the series so they now feel like the Lannister's last best effort to save their seats.

    Riches from the Realm:

•One good way to make sure that Dany and Jon's flirting comes to a grinding halt (for now) is to send Jon away, up North. It looks like that may happen as soon as the next episode.

•Bronn totally deserves Highgarden after his performance this week. Provided he's not a pile of ashes.

•Has Sansa told Littlefinger about how Bran can "see all?" What did he make of Bran's "chaos is a ladder" callout? If he thinks Bran knows things about him, he may try to have him killed. Again.

•Now that he's got a wheelchair, Bran just needs to go bald and morph into Professor Xavier. Yes, the Godswood is Cerebro.

Game of Thrones pulled no punches and showed no quarter this week as we witnessed one of the fiercest and most engaging battles the show's ever produced, featuring major fan-favorite characters on opposite sides of the fight. On top of that, Arya, after seven years, made her way home to Winterfell and managed to best Brienne of Tarth in a friendly ...
