The Santana PRS Signature line has gone through a wide range of specs and color variations throughout the years, but it’s always suited the needs of Santana’s playing style and incredible tone throughout the years.
Santana currently uses a Santana II model guitar fitted with PRS Santana III nickel-covered pickups, a tremolo bar, and .009–.042 gauge D'Addario strings. He also plays a PRS Santana MD "The Multidimensional" guitar. [48]
Mar 2, 2023 · Carlos Santana primarily uses a PRS Santana II guitar, a product of his collaboration with Paul Reed Smith. Among his favorites are the 1968 Gibson Les Paul Custom, 1950s Gibson Les Paul Special, and Yamaha SG-2000. He also uses a Nittono Model-T Jazz Nylon and Alvarez Yairi CY-127CE.
- 1968 Gibson Les Paul Custom. This instrument, a refinished maple-top Les Paul, is pretty much the holy grail of Santana guitars. Carlos purchased it at Prune Music in San Francisco in 1970, shortly after his group’s big breakthrough.
