Advanced Placement Program® (AP®) courses are college-level courses offered in high school. AP courses reflect what is taught in introductory college courses. At the end of an AP course, students take AP Exams—standardized exams that measure how well students have mastered college-level course work.
Students who do well on AP Exams can earn credit and/or placement into advanced courses in university. On average our success rates are over 80%. At Westmount High School, we take AP one-step further. Advanced Placement at Westmount is a philosophy.
Westmount High is Quebec's first and only public school to offer Advanced Placement (AP) courses, because the AP program has been around Westmount High since 2003. They offer AP Calculus, AP Comparative Government and Politics, AP English Literature and Composition, AP Environmental Science, AP French Language and Culture, and AP Psychology.
We offer AP programs in: Math and Science (Calculus in AB, Environmental Science) Social Sciences (Comparative Government and Politics, Psychology) Languages (French Language and Culture, English Literature and Composition) and. Pre-AP Art (Studio Art). WHS is also a testing center for the College Board.
At Westmont High, there is a total enrollment of 344 in AP courses (a student taking more than one AP course counts more than once). Of AP-taking students, 229 took AP tests for ALL AP courses. 32 students took AP tests for SOME AP Courses, and 58 took AP courses but took NO tests.
