Table 3-1 shows the natural long -term water balance (1998 –2021) of Qatar’s groundwater basins. The groundwater safe yield amounted to 54.2 million m3 per year. However, the current groundwater abstraction reached 250 million m3 per year, leading to depletion of aquifers, low groundwater levels and increased salinity.
