DCEU chief and DC Films president Walter Hamada has reportedly left the building.

According to Deadline, the long-running DC producer has exited Warner Bros. Discovery after fifteen years at the company.

Hamada has been in charge of DC’s big screen output since 2018 – a contract that was renewed in 2021 that should have taken Hamada through until 2023. However, according to Deadline's sources, it looks as though the company’s new management following the Warner Bros. Discovery merger wants him out sooner.

Given that Warner Bros. Discovery has been openly searching for its own Kevin Feige, perhaps it was only a matter of time. That post is said to have gone to The Lego Movie producer, Dan Lin but it’s not quite a done deal. According to Deadline's inside sources, Hamada has been expecting his exit for some time, with his office packed up and ready, while he has not been part of any recent DC creative meetings.

Although the DC universe faltered many times, Hamada is credited for some of its biggest hits, including the recent Peacemaker series – a spin-off from James Gunn’s soft reboot of The Suicide Squad.

Hamada was reportedly offered a producing deal but turned it down. And though he was ready to exit after the Batgirl fiasco, it’s said that Michael De Luca and Pam Abdy convinced him to stay on to at least see Black Adam through.

What happens next in the DC universe remains to be seen, but for now at least, DC is leaderless and Warner Bros. Discover CEO David Zaslav is yet to find his Kevin Feige.
