If you’re a go-getter, single or married, or a student, then you’ll get the most out of living there. Is Washington, DC, a good place to live? It really depends on so many factors. It has something for everyone.
- The Salaries. When it comes to places to move to make the most money, Washington DC is near the top of the list. Only New York, San Francisco (the Bay Area), and possibly Los Angeles will pay you more.
- Public Transportation. For an American city, DC has excellent public transportation. Let me stress that point again: for an American city… You’re not going to be fooled into thinking that you’re in London or Amsterdam by any stretch of the imagination.
- You can get any type of food your heart desires. My personal favorite thing about living in DC is that you can get just about any cuisine you can think of.
- Reasonable winter weather. Back in the 1990s the DC area used to endure some pretty brutal winters. Blizzards were common and the lakes would freeze over every year.
- Capitol Hill & H Street corridor. Perfect for history buffs and those that really want to live in the epicenter of everything that Washington DC offers.
- Southwest Waterfront & the Wharf. Perfect for seafood lovers and the artsy folk looking for a neighborhood with the best of the land and the sea. The Southwest Waterfront and the Wharf are one of our very top places to live in Washington DC–actually it’s our top second place.
- Dupont Circle & Logan Circle. Perfect for young and single professionals looking to live in one of the best areas in Washington DC. We've finally reached our top three!
- Georgetown. Perfect for nature lovers that want the big city life with quaint town vibes. Georgetown is probably the most picturesque area in Washington DC.

DC, or the District of Columbia, has diverse neighborhoods, historic landmarks and many opportunities for cultural enrichment. It is also a hub for politics as well as education. There are some downsides to living here, as there are with every city.
