The movie has a ring of authenticity to it, but the plot and most of the other characters aren't based on a true story.
- A deleted scene would have shown Ray getting his hearing checked. Any stickler for common sense who watches Field of Dreams has doubtless asked why Costner’s Ray doesn’t question the weird voice he hears, and doesn’t seem to consider whether he has a problem.
