It's okay, I wouldn't call it good. It has a stronger focus on story and somehow still manages to share a lot of the weaknesses with SMT5, but with none of the strengths. It has some cool and interesting things going for it, and if you're looking for monster-collection/fusion you'll get your share. Dungeons are mostly dull though.
Soul Hackers 2 has optional “commander skills” that you can unlock and buy over time, that are similar to that. Some demons also have special attacks that trigger randomly, partially based on how many enemy weaknesses you hit during each turn.
The game is Definitely still fun and totally worth it if it’s on sale for a sizable discount, but I would 100% classify it as mid. It’s got some serious problems that drag what could have been a great game down to okay levels.
