Ryan Field was a stadium in the central United States, located in Evanston, Illinois, a suburb north of Chicago. Near the campus of Northwestern University, it was primarily used for American football, and was the home field of the Northwestern Wildcats of the Big Ten Conference.

Sep 28, 2022 · The new Ryan Field is being developed for smaller crowds — designed for a maximum capacity of 35,000, more than 12,000 fewer than the current Ryan Field, with a state-of-the-art canopy designed to focus noise and light on the field.

Nov 21, 2023 · Ryan Field. The Evanston City Council voted in favor of Northwestern’s proposal to rebuild Ryan Field. The council also approved the rezoning application that would allow six concerts a year and other community-oriented events at the new venue.
Jun 3, 2024 · Four months have passed since work on Ryan Field ramped up — demolishing the entire stadium and hauling away concrete, steel and debris. When the press box came down late in May, the construction crew achieved a major milestone, and operations shifted fully from tear down to new build.
The new Ryan Field and plazas will: include new and improved greenspace modeled after iconic parks like Maggie Daley Park in Chicago. And, with Oregon, USC, UCLA and Washington joining the Big Ten, the new stadium will help showcase Northwestern University to an even broader and more global audience.
