Trowbridge ( / ˈtroʊbrɪdʒ / TROH-brij) is the county town of Wiltshire, England; situated on the River Biss in the west of the county, close to the border with Somerset. The town lies 8 miles (13 km) south-east of Bath, 31 miles (50 km) south-west of Swindon and 20 miles (32 km) south-east of Bristol.
Situated just 25 minutes by road from Bath, with good public transport links and direct trains to London, the South West, the Midlands and South Wales, Trowbridge provides a great base from which to explore the region, especially Wiltshire landmarks such as Avebury and Stonehenge.

- Trowbridge Museum. Appropriate for a town that made a name for its woollen cloth industry, the town museum is at the historic Salter’s Home Mill, which was incorporated into the Shires Shopping Centre in 1990.
- Farleigh Hungerford Castle. This castle, constructed in the 14th century and made more luxurious over time, is rare for the South West of England as it came through the Civil War without being slighted afterwards.
- St James’s Church. The first mention of St James’s Church is from 1115, while the majority of the building is Perpendicular Gothic from the late 15th century, given a sympathetic restoration in the mid-19th century.
- Kennet and Avon Canal. Inland navigation was made a lot easier in the 18th century with the construction of this 87-mile canal between the River Kennet at Newbury and the Thames at Reading, effectively linking the port city of Bristol with London.
