Main Street is lined with buildings and homes that date to 1779, and the town is home to the Barter Theater, where patrons can still barter for a ticket.

- Charlottesville. For a more refined kind of beauty, I don’t think you can look past Charlottesville, which is considered Virginia’s cultural center and listed as one of the best places to live in Virginia.
