Clifford George Evans (17 February 1912 – 9 June 1985) was a Welsh actor. During the summer of 1934 Evans appeared in A Midsummer Night's Dream at the Open Air Theatre in London. [1] He played many parts in British films of the 1930s, then during the Second World War was a conscientious objector, serving in the Non-Combatant Corps. [2]
In 1931 Evans made his first professional appearance, aged 19, at the Embassy Theatre in Swiss Cottage, London, playing Don Juan in a revival of The Romantic Young Lady. His next move was a tour in Canada and repertory at Folkestone and Croydon.
Evans began his acting career in 1930 and made his West End debut three years later. He enjoyed a successful 54-year career in the theatre and film industry.
