(also released as The Amazing Spider-Man 2: Rise of Electro in some markets) is a 2014 superhero film, based on the Marvel Comics superhero of the same name. This film is the second and final installment of The Amazing Spider-Man film series.

The film is directed by Marc Webb, the film stars Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker/Spider-Man, Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy, Jamie Foxx as Max Dillon/Electro, Dane DeHaan as Harry Osborn/Green Goblin, and Sally Field as May Parker. The film was released on May 2, 2014.and released on DVD and blu-ray on August 19, 2014.

Using the concept of the multiverse, the Marvel Cinematic Universe movie Spider-Man: No Way Home features the return of Andrew Garfield and Jamie Foxx as Spider-Man and Electro respectively.

Confident in his powers as Spider-Man, Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield) embraces his new role as a hero and spends time with Gwen Stacy (Emma Stone) in between protecting New York from criminals. However, his greatest battle yet is about to begin. With the emergence of Electro (Jamie Foxx), Peter must confront him, who is a far more powerful than he ...

In a flashback, former Oscorp scientist and businessman Richard Parker records a video message to explain his disappearance. He and his wife Mary Parker try to flee aboard a private jet that is hijacked by an assassin. The jet crashes, killing the couple.

In the present day, Spider-Man is in pursuit of criminals carrying a truck full of dangerous chemicals called plutonium through the city. Whilst talking to Gwen Stacy on the phone, he sees a vision of her late father, Captain Stacy, and is reminded of the promise he made to stay away from Gwen. During the chase, he saves the life of a man named Max Dillon.

Afterward, Peter meets Gwen at their high school graduation ceremony where the two share a kiss. However, later in the evening, Peter tells Gwen about the visions he's been having and insists that he needs to keep his promise in which Gwen breaks up with Peter. After years of being away from the city, Harry Osborn returns home and talks with his father, Norman Osborn, who is in very sick health. Norman explains to Harry that sickness is genetic and that Harry is at the age where it will begin to show. Before he dies, he gives Harry a small device which he claims contains his life's work. The next day, it is reported that Norman Osborn is dead, making Harry Osborn CEO of Oscorp.

Max Dillon, now assuming that he and Spider-Man are best friends, attends work on his birthday as an electrician at Oscorp. Whilst tending to some dangerous maintenance, he loses his balance and falls into a tank of modified electric eels being used for experiments. As a result, he becomes a human mass of electricity. The next day, Peter sees the news of Norman's demise. At the same time, Harry is in a meeting with the board, where they discuss Oscorp's issues, starting with the "intense public scrutiny in the wake of Dr. Connors's recent breach of trust", meaning everyone is mad at Oscorp because Dr. Connors tried to turn everyone in New York City into giant lizards. "Given that, all the animal hybrid programs he was involved in were destroyed to restore investor confidence." After hearing this, Harry in disappointment states that "that is the Osborn way!" That "whatever's inconvenient" just gets rid of. Harry is told that much of the scrutiny will fall on him now that he is the CEO.

The board feels that plausible deniability is Harry's best option. Harry then goes on to rant about how he's a 20 year old kid with a $200 billion dollar company and doesn't understand what his dad was thinking. He points out that everyone on the board are lawyers and that someone should've questioned his (Norman's) sanity in the end. That someone should've had him declared legally incompetent, which would've made the current conversation a whole lot easier. When the corporate lawyer tries to explain, first by calling him "Harry", Harry cuts him off stating that it's "Mr. Osborn" and that they're not friends. As the room quiets down, Harry notices Felicia Hardy, who becomes his new assistant due to being Norman's assistant before he died. He tells everyone at the table that they work for her, because she works for him. The meeting is interrupted when Harry is told that Peter has arrived and is waiting for him and the two are reunited after ten years, as they catch up and hang out at a park while the board secretly spies on their conversation. Afterwards, Peter meets Gwen in an attempt to maintain a friendship.

Meanwhile, Max Dillon wakes up in the crematorium, where he discovers his new powers. He grabs a jacket and heads out. While walking outside, he hungers for energy and absorbs the power source of the nearby cars before heading to Times Square, where he feels more energy. While Gwen and Peter hangout, Gwen tells Peter that a job opportunity means she has to move to England. Before the two can discuss it, Max accidentally shuts off the power to Times Square whilst looking for electricity to power himself. Max is seen all over time square where he is actually seen. Spider-Man attempts to calm the situation down. Spider-Man then saves people from his destruction. As Electro is replaced by Spider-Man all over Times Square which Electro then thinks Spider-Man is nothing but selfish. But after the police try to shoot him, Max thinks that Spider-Man has betrayed him and attacks. Spider-Man eventually stops him and he is taken to the Ravencroft Institute.

Previously, The Amazing Spider-Man director Marc Webb has said that he was unsure that he would return to direct its sequel, but it has been confirmed that he will. Columbia Pictures has also announced that James Vanderbilt will be penning the sequel.

Columbia Pictures has confirmed that Marc Webb will be directing the Amazing Spider-Man sequel.Star Trek writers Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci, and Fringe writer Jeff Pinkner wrote the screenplay, based in part on a draft from The Amazing Spider-Man scribe, James Vanderbilt.

    •Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker/Spider-Man

•Max Charles as Young Peter Parker

    •Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy

    •Jamie Foxx as Max Dillon/Electro

•Dane DeHaan as Harry Osborn/Green Goblin

    •Colm Feore as Donald Menken

•A hint toward The Amazing Spider-Man 2's villain was revealed within the first movie's post-credits scene when a mysterious man spoke with Curt Connors in a mental asylum.

•Actor J.K. Simmons has said that he is willing to play J. Jonah Jameson (chief editor of the Daily Bugle) in the second film if the studio lets him. However, nothing has been said of the issue from Webb or the studio. It may be a good choice, as Simmons has played (and was well-awarded for playing) Jameson in Sam Raimi's Spider-Man trilogy. Webb has commented on the issue, saying that anything can happen.

•It was once unclear whether or not Garfield was to return as Spider-Man, but it has been confirmed that he will.

•Stan Lee says he wishes to have a bigger cameo in this film than he did in the first, even telling Webb that he would like to have a bigger role in the plot, saying, "My cameo was alright, but it wasn't big enough. You refer to it as a cameo. Couldn't we think of it as a leading role?. Now, I'll admit, I was great doing that little thing and walking away and stamping the books. People haven't stopped talking about it. But, I think in the next one, maybe we ought to go a little deeper and probe the real me. People are still talking about that cameo and saying, 'Why wasn't it longer?' Why couldn't I have stamped more books?" However, it is likely that Lee was joking about the leading role talk, but he will still probably remain a spot in the movie as a cameo appearance.

•It is also possible Lee may make an appearance as the fictional character by the name of simply Stan, similar to what he did in the first film.

•Spider-Man universe villain Electro was once only rumored to appear, but he's now been confirmed. Two actors were in talks to play him, Homeland actor Damian Lewis and Ray actor Jamie Foxx, but Foxx gained the role.

•The film's working titles were London Calling and Untitled Columbia Pictures Project.

•This was the last film of Marc Webb's The Amazing Spider-Man series as Marvel Studios & Sony Pictures decided to reboot the franchise by setting it into Marvel Cinematic Universe with Tom Holland taking over the role as Peter Parker / Spider-Man with his first appearance will be Captain America: Civil War.

•The original script treatment for the sequel, written by James Vanderbilt during filming for the first film, with input from both director Marc Webb and Ehren Kruger, was similar yet vastly different from the final release, prior to rewrites by Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci, in addition to last minute changes by Jeff Pinkner:

•The film was going keep the tone and aesthetic from the first movie, And as such, Peter would still have his original suit, at least for the first act. Electro would be the sole villain, while Harry Osborn would play a smaller role, albeit his subplot regarding his sickness would still be in play.

•Mary Jane Watson had a supporting role as well, befriending both Peter and Gwen and offering them helpful advice when they confide in her about their doubts. She even had her own subplot involving her abusive father Philip, who would constantly torment her and her mother, only for Peter, as Spider-Man, to intervene and web him up while chastising him over his cruel behavior, leading Mary Jane become immensely infatuated with him.

•Rather than Donald Menken, Rajit Ratha would be Harry's advisor (as his death by The Lizard's hands in ASM1 was scrapped) and would be far more helpful and sympathetic to Harry's plight, being the one to tell him his father had left behind a contingency for him to save his life, but would meet his death by Electro during an attack on Oscorp Tower.
