Lough Gur (Irish: Loch Goir) is a lake in County Limerick, Ireland between the towns of Herbertstown and Bruff. The lake forms a horseshoe shape at the base of Knockadoon Hill and some rugged elevated countryside. It is one of Ireland's most important archaeological sites.

Aug 31, 2023 · Lough Gur forms a horseshoe shape and lies at the foot of Knockadoon Hill. It is one of Ireland ’s most significant archaeological sites: it has no fewer than 2,000 archaeological monuments within a 5 km (3.1 mi) radius. There is evidence that humans have lived here since 3000 BC.
It is home to Ireland's oldest and largest stone circle and the only natural lake of significance in South East Limerick. Lough Gur also has an abundance of ancient monuments in State care with a reported 2,000 archaeological monuments in a 5km radius.
